Animal Science Program of Study

Student practicing suturesThe Animal Science Program of Study steps outside the realm of most traditional programs. Studies encompass zoo animals, pets, exotics, wildlife and production animals. Students are involved in many field-based and community service projects as well as mentorships and internships at animal-related businesses in the area. Upon completion of the four-year program, students will be prepared to take the Texas Veterinary Medical Association exam for Certified Veterinary Assistants.

Arts, Audio-Visual Technology and Communications Program of Study

Student working at a computerThe Arts, Audio-Visual Technology and Communications program offers a course of study that follows the graphic design industry, and keeps pace with current trends in design. Graphic designers use specialized computer software packages to help create layouts and design elements.

This program of study provides a variety of hands-on learning situations. Students will experience a wide range of work simulations from development of overall layout and production design followed by job mentoring and internships. Each program option provides the students with a comprehensive series of courses that allow them to develop skills, expertise and competence in preparation for many industry-level certification exams (Adobe Certified Associates).

Automotive Technology Program of Study

Students working on a car engineThe Amarillo Automotive Technology Center is located in a 12,000-square-foot state-of-the-art facility on our campus. The facility includes two classrooms, two office areas, restrooms, student locker area and shop.

Students completing this program will be able to gain A.S.E. Student Certification, and Auto Tech II students intern in automotive dealerships and other shops where their skills are enhanced with hands-on training.

Engineering Program of Study

The Engineering Program of Study area explores all branches of engineering, and provides distinctive opportunities to work alongside practicing professionals. State-of-the art equipment and close association with professional advisors and mentors allow students to see more clearly the possibilities available to them as they consider college and careers. Engineering explores the strategies of basic research, hands-on learning, competitive individual and group design projects, and college and university visits.

Health Science Program of Study

Student working on a simulated patientThe Health Science Program of Study prepares students for a future in medicine through hands-on experience in the classroom, a laboratory setting and in local medical facilities.

Students take classes that lead to certification in Emergency Medical Technician (E.M.T.), Electrocardiograph (E.K.G.) Technician, Certified Nurse Aide, and Certified Medical Assistant. Students will also take Anatomy and Physiology and Medical Math as a part of this Program of Study.
